The boxes display the interquartile ranges of log wage changes, with a horizontal line within the box indicating the median, and the whiskers showing the highest and lowest adjacent values. Heavy outliers are excluded. Wage change is measured as ln(w1/w0), where w1 and w0 are average earnings (normalized for the national mean) in the job spells after and before the shift, respectively
