  1. aThis figure is counterintuitive at first glance. One would expect that, if an apprentice has already told the training establishment that he or she wants to leave after apprenticeship training, the apprentice has no intention of staying with the training firm. However, these four cases can be explained by temporary separations from the training firm (e.g. military or social service). The apprentices leave for a couple of months but want to return afterwards. To check whether the four observations affect the results, we deleted these cases and repeated our analyses. All results remained constant
